Breathing exercises also relax all of your muscles. Some studies have shown that breathing exercises can also benefit sufferers of asthma. Take breathes that are long and paced slowly. Take a breath through your nose, nice and slow. Now, exhale just as slowly. As you do this relax your stomach muscles. Relax and continue for several minutes.
Slow, intentional, deep breathing is also a great tool to help you focus in the moment. It also assists you in grounding excess anxious energy. While you are breathing, you can do a body scan looking for any tense spots in the body. Your breathing will lead you there. When you see a tension spot, breathe into it, project release and let the tension subside.
Be good to yourself and take a deep breathing break. In fact, take several throughout your day.
